Features
What the program actually does, grouped the way you meet it: get data in, fit a model, compute gains, check them, write them back. No feature here needs a network connection to anything but the controller in front of you.
Getting data in
- Live capture over Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU (RS-485), or OPC UA.
- A generic ASCII serial mode for panel controllers that speak lines of text.
- Import a historian or CSV export when the controller is off-limits – same analysis, no live link.
- Manual entry of PV/OUT pairs for the stubborn cases.
Fitting the model
- First-order-plus-dead-time fit (gain K, time constant T, dead time L) with the residual shown, not hidden.
- Noise band measured on the quiet section before the step, so a fast loop is not punished for its own step.
- A blunt warning when the model does not fit – a nonlinear or integrating loop is flagged, not quietly tuned.
Computing gains
- Two rules: a lambda/IMC rule you drive with a single closed-loop time constant, and a damped-response rule for when you want it calmer.
- Default safety target of gain margin ≥ 2.0 and phase margin ≥ 45°, both adjustable, both shown for the result.
- Output in the controller's own integral/derivative convention – see controllers.
What it deliberately is not
It does not auto-step your process, does not run unattended, and does not keep a fleet database. One engineer, one loop, one window. If you need an online adaptive controller, this is the wrong tool and we will tell you so.
