System requirements
Modest, on purpose – the program does one thing and does not need a workstation to do it. It runs entirely offline; the only connection it ever makes is to the controller you point it at.
| Windows | Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. No administrator rights; installs per-user. |
|---|---|
| macOS | macOS 13 or later, Apple silicon or Intel. |
| Linux | x86-64 with glibc 2.31 or newer (most 2020-or-later distributions). |
| Memory | 4 GB RAM. |
| Disk | 300 MB free. |
| Display | 1280×800 or larger. |
| Network | None required. Fully offline; no account, no licensing server. |
For the serial side
Modbus RTU needs an RS-485 port or a USB-to-RS-485 adapter your OS already sees as a serial device; Flintloop uses the OS driver and adds none of its own. Modbus TCP and OPC UA need only a route to the controller on your network. The ASCII serial mode works with any adapter that presents a COM/tty port.
What it will not do
It will not drive a loop unattended, and it is not a real-time controller – it reads, fits and writes, then gets out of the way. If your plant needs continuous adaptive control, Flintloop is the wrong class of tool.
